Material and Financial Dimension of Water Management in the Years 2000-2011 in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to present both material and financial aspects of water protection and management between 2000 and 2011. The analysis is based on the data collected from the Local Data Bank provided by the Central Statistical Office as well as on certain source material courtesy of the Regional Water Management, Regional Drainage Management and Water Facilities. The analysis presented above confirms that from 2000 to 2011 funds for environmental protection and for water management have both increased. This allowed infrastructure in the areas of water and wastewater management or water drainage to get closer to meeting the EU requirements according to the Water Framework Directive. In author’s opinion, it is particularly urgent to further increase funds and provide works in flood management to avoid risks and to improve security in areas at risk of flooding.
