Summary/Abstract: This paper presents and analyses the theoretical model of intercultural information ethics by one of the most famous current theorist, Raphael Capurro. He deals with problematic field of media ethics which as proposes to regulate and to control interactions in cyberspace ethically. The article theoretically reconstructs the fundamental assumptions of his model of intercultural information ethics in order to highlight the innovation and viability of such an ethical model. The article also critically evaluates the opportunities for empowerment and for the practical applications of such model on a global scale. The article states that Capurro’s model of intercultural information ethics is not complete theoretically because: 1) the model is largely based on Western cultural practices and values and insufficiently values the inculturation process and cross-cultural interaction and reflection; 2) a consensus which is an essential condition for a model of intercultural information ethics has not been reached in constructive intercultural dialogue. Consequently, Capurro’s vision of empowerment of this model is hypothetical and too optimistic. It does not see the threats of conscious destruction, terrorism, violations of cyberspace and others virtual crimes as well as management schemes.
