Summary/Abstract: The edited material includes the ten-year long (1926–1936) correspondence between the well-known Czech his- torian Jaroslav Bidlo (1868–1937) and the Polish historian and Slavicist Henryk Batowski (1907–1999), whose professional career was at that time just starting. Their contacts started with efforts aimed at the promotion of Polish–Czechoslovak relations, but they soon switched to purely scientific subjects. Bidlo and Batowski found common ground in their shared interest in Slavic and Balkan studies, especially the issue of a synthetic history of the Slavic peoples. This text offers an edition of 32 letters and postal cards whose originals are kept in archives in Prague and Krakow.
