Summary/Abstract: The emergence of the concept of sustainable development, there are nearly a quarter century coincided with the implementation of policies aimed at the concrete decline a national first and as level and action at a regional and then local. The practical implementation of these policies gave rise at the same time a number of constraints in three directions: measuring its effectiveness in relation to the three pillars of SD, estimate the impact of certain actions on SD and lastly, compare the situation in the territories under sustainable development. The internalization of these constraints had led public policy makers to develop a series of indicators constituting in fact a decision support tool especially in Europe. The purpose of this article is to identify the different indicators to estimate the land policies of SD; the "territorial" adjective being circumscribed for the occasion at the scale of a region in its widest dimension and scale of a city at the smallest level from a geographical point of view.
