The sustainable campus indicators in the US and in the European Union: a new form of indicators community

Summary/Abstract: The middle of the nineties saw opening many initiatives on the North American university campusesand later in the European Union aiming at evaluating their performances compared with SustainableDevelopment. An attentive examination of the methods used at the same time as the choice of their variablesleads us to establish a connection between such initiatives and the use of community indicators. This paper willendeavour to clarify the two approaches while emphasizing the similarities and oppositions between indicatorsof sustainable campus and community indicators.
