Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the functions performed by the practice of code-switching in making known and popularising an aspect of life pertaining to a cultural area whose mother tongue is different from the one in which the aforementioned description is made. The presence of linguistic interactions in the very peritext of the book will thus state an underlying identity different from the one automatically implied by the language in which the book is written. Particular emphasis will also be placed on the ways in which this style-shifting is achieved. Occurrences such as those where concepts pertaining to one culture are actually verbalised in both languages, in a seemingly redundant fashion, for instance, will be put under scrutiny, the examination attempting at seizing the nuances carried by each language.
