INTERCULTURAL IN TRAVEL RECORDS

Summary/Abstract: Reading relocation narratives is a way to develop one’s intercultural competence. The transnational writers’ accounts of how they came into contact and gradually deciphered the cultural idiosyncrasies that create the uniqueness of living in a particular environment is a door to penetrating a particular outlook on life. This paper aims to show how the literature of accommodation, by means of its didactic nature, becomes an aid to the readers’ understanding of the concept of “otherness” while prompting them to reflect upon their own identity.
