Changes in land use and the housing density on the city–rural area border as a result of the suburbanization processes of Nowy Sącz

Summary/Abstract: Suburbanization processes appearing around big cities in Poland influence the changes in infrastructure and development processes in both metropolitan areas and towns being subregional centers. The purpose of the executed analysis has been to quantify selected characteristics of the phenomenon of suburbanization in the case of Nowy Sącz and rural areas surrounding the city. Conclusions have been based on the analysis of land use data of each village as well as the density of buildings and their functions. The analysis has been conducted on the base of the kilometer grid. The results confirm that the processes of suburbanization exist in the analyzed area
