Summary/Abstract: Current research shows that children with hyperkinetic disorder with attention deficit (ADHD) symptoms appear differently depending on the situation and have a significant social, educational and/or occupational impact. This paper aims to highlight the influence of ADHD on academic achievement, self-esteem, cyclothymia and exhibitionism in 10 to 11 year old and 13 to 14 year old age groups. We used a sample of 80 participants, out of which 40 with ADHD potential and 40 with normal development. We took measures of the ability to focus attention, self-esteem, and accentuated personality. The tutors of the children filled out a questionnaire assessing the hyperactivity of the children. Results revealed that students who have specific ADHD symptoms have lower school performances than students who show a normal development. We can state that students who exhibit specific ADHD symptoms have a higher level of attention seeking behavior than those with normal development; and as for ADHD prospective students, self-esteem is lower. Also, students who show a higher degree of cyclothymia are ADHD potential students.
