Summary/Abstract: Translation is an activity of enormous importance in the modern world and has become an established area in language studies, being the main criterion for archieving communication. Considering Newmark's theory that translation is an art as well as a skill and a science, three main aspects are taken into consideration when we talk about translation: the foreign and native cultures, the two languages and the writer and the translator.
