Creating of the image of the city on the example of self-government actions of Gdynia

Summary/Abstract: The image of the city is becoming one of crucial elements of the local politics. Deliberate consistent building the image allows for increasing the competitiveness, is attracting investors, of tourists, is giving satisfaction to residents. The purpose of the paper is presenting the possibility of using various marketing tools in creating the city image on the example of Gdynia. Creating the image is a long term, dynamic process, which uses a lot of marketing tools. In the process of creating the image there appear various favorable and unfavorable conditions, which are closely associated with the economic situation, investment opportunities and local government cooperation with the environment. Gdynia is an example of a city that has been carried out a policy oriented on image for many years. An important advantage of the city government is a constant and consistent implementation of the strategy, which contributes to achieving the long term objectives.
