Summary/Abstract: The dynamics and character of changes occurring in the environment of learning sector players force the latter to adjust their development strategies accordingly. The higher education establishments are currently facing new dilemmas that reflect the requirement of endowing students with knowledge seek for by employers in the sectors of economy. The last part of article describes state and change trends in graduates of higher education field in Poland. Presented data were compiled using CSO. Data show that number of people with tertiary education has been rising and most of them has finished public higher education institutions. The labour market is dominated by people with tertiary education who attended part time programmes, mainly economy, administration, humanities, social and education science. The results of the analysis prove that education doesn’t ensure good work. In researched period the unemployment among graduates in Poland has risen two times.
