Summary/Abstract: The study presents an analysis of some features of social and educational work in the context of the modern social theory, social and educational scientific knowledge and practice. Specific characteristics of social and educational work, such as an integrative activity, mediated process, social supporting activity and others have been inferred. The principles of social and educational work and approaches to the implementation of effective helping activity for the benefit of individuals and society have been outlined. The characteristics that distinguish social and educationalwork as a professional activity have been theoretically provided displaying the characteristics of the specificity at different levels – micro, meso and macro level in its implementation.
