Summary/Abstract: After a review of Diderot’s critical ideas – as expounded in his essays and fiction (Le Neveu de Rameau, Jacques le Fataliste and La Religieuse) – the author reaches the conclusion that Diderot’s dialogism can be considered a distant predecessor of Mikhail Bakhtine, his radical scepticism a forerunner of poststructuralism, while his playful approach to the novel anticipates postmodernism.
