Summary/Abstract: Farm was the smallest agricultural unit in the first period of the Ottoman Empire. However, with the deterioration of the feudal tenure system and the emergence of big landowners (ayans) plantation type of large farms appeared in Anatolia and the Balkans. These farms essentially operated in partnership method. These farms took the form of farm villages after a while. Temettuat books give us information about twelve of such farms in Tire. It is not clear who owns these farms except one. The situations of these farms (the largest inhabited by forty households and the smallest by seven households) in the mid-19th century were handled in accordance with the information provided by temettuat books. First, the sectoral distribution of the occupants on the farms, then agriculture and livestock on farms, taxes paid by individuals and used names, nicknames or titles have been dealt with under different headings. To make it more perceptible, the data obtained from temettuat registers have been given as tables.
