Summary/Abstract: Taking into consideration the case study of the family investment company,the author indicates ambivalent character of nepotistic approach in the process of employees recruitment in the family company. He underlines the appropriate nepotistic criteria of the recruitment of managers in the family company, for instance bigger trust for candidates –family members, their stronger engagement in the family businessand their involvement in plans of succession. He also recognizes some threats connected with nepotistic approach in the process of recruitment of employees in the family company, like the selection of non-competent candidates, and the potential conflicts among employees generated by the their provenience. The author concludes that the appropriate balance between nepotism and meritocratic approach in the process of recruitment of employees in the family business is excellent solution for the consolidation of the family firm. Such solution can facilitate the elimination of negative effects of the nepotistic approach.
