Summary/Abstract: It is not exactly known when the knitting art was started by whom and where. However, it is thought that knitting art was developed with the pleasure, appreciation and creativity by the need of people covering. The first historical documents of the Turks about knitting were found in archaeological excavations in Central Asia. Examples about knitting art is one of the important handicraft shows the pleasure, esthetics and emotion of Turkish people. In Anatolia, the laces that have been transferred from the generations to generations have become a tool of nonverbal communication of women. Laces are an important cultural product which expresses Turkish woman’s eye, voice, emotion and thoughts either with technic, colour and motif richness, The locals produce many examples of laces by depicting the flowers, fruits, leaves, trees, greens, grass and meadows in front of their homes, and in nature, Because of this reason plants and natüre are the richest motif source of Turkish women. In this research it is aimed to identify and investigate the properties of laces featured with herbal ornaments. This research was carried out on 129 specimens selected from 18 different characteristics.
