Summary/Abstract: The complexity of the environment, culture, norms, regulations, and the need to survive are only one of many elements conditioning the activities of contemporary organizations. Looking through their own benefits, organizations are looking for new ways of acting, and one of them is existence within the framework of business ecosystems. Being part of the business ecosystem means access to the best resources, the latest solutions, regardless of who owns them – a research organization, company, supplier, customer or private entity. By changing the environment, resources they create new opportunities which determine the speed of ecosystem evolution. An effective participant of business ecosystems, in addition to solving current problems, overcomes organizational barriers, establishes relationships in order to acquire knowledge and expand resources. Activities of business ecosystem participants must exceed their own resources in order to become a value that allows them to exist and compete on the market. The challenge is to create cooperation within a rapidly changing environment of interpenetrating organizational cultures.
