Summary/Abstract: Essay deals with the relationship between the studium and punctum, approach introduced by R. Barthes, on reflecting the image-sport in televised sport-news. The basic abstract principle of punctum in the image-sport is hidden, I believe, in the endless desire to show athletic performance per se. It draws on the concentration before the sport-exercise, and draws on its outcome after sport-exercise. The vast majority of sporting images inherently visualize the success or failure of performance, which actually corresponds to the physical principles of the sport. Another part of punctum, the contrast-principle, is reflected in the emerging desire for good and right actual performance, against which stands and counter-forces the other performer. In addition to the performance and contrast principle, punctum evokes in natural authenticity of image-sport, empowered by the unpredictability of the sport story outcome.
