Summary/Abstract: Emmanuel Lévinas is a philosopher of ethics. He is considered one of the main nowadays (the 2nd half of the 20th century) thinkers of moral. According to Lévinas, ethics is the first philosophy that gives meaning to other branches of metaphysics. The initial question is not what being is, but how one must live. This ethical question „tears” being apart and humanity stands out as otherwise than being and as transcendence in the world. Real philosophy doesn‘t start from being in general, but from thinking of justice, practicing it, and from practice of justice reflecting on it.
