Summary/Abstract: Civil solidarity pacts represent a law institution, which appeared for the first time in Europe towards the end of the 20th century, through which a legal framework was established for the same-sex couples, who were living and maintaining household together. Gradually, this form of organization of the life in common was also regulated for different-sex couples, which do not wish to comply with the rigor of the rules governing the marriage, either since they are driven by a strong individualist sense, or because they do not believe in it. Even if in several states they are still into force, their effect is resounding as regards the new manner of the legislative approach of the family, which progressively has acquired new forms and dimensions, being agreed at the legislative level even in the cases of the same-sex marriages, according to the Danish basic pattern.
