Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the analysis of the extent of the burnout syndrome of the helping professions in the Prison and Judicial Guards Corps. The methodological tool was the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire, which was completed by 317 respondents from all detention institutes in Slovakia. The main conclusions include the finding that in all the three factors of the burnout syndrome – emotional exhoustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment – more than half respondents have a high degree of burnout.
