Summary/Abstract: As a result of the adoption of the 2006 Act on Social Services, the Czech Republic got the most comprehensive public long-term care system in Central and Eastern Europe. The core of this system is need-tested and tax-financed cash allowance for care recipients which is to be used as a payment for services. The aim of the paper is to analyze the reform in the Czech Republic from a perspective of macroeconomic policy. More precisely, the article attempts to enhance readers’ understanding of this reform by focusing on budget policy, labour market and price regulations concerning social services.
