Summary/Abstract: The paper questions adequacy of a term „unreliable narrator“, albeit that breaking norms of a literary work is not always a sign of unreliability of narration but can be a mistake made by the authors themselves; or that obscurity of narration can be intentional or even a part of its poetics. The analysis of literary works from Slovak literature confirms that unreliability is a category that is not always related to narration but could be formed by an author, recipient or in poetics.
