Summary/Abstract: The goal of the research was to determine the influence having trained swimming has on the development of spinal curvature in children aged 10‒13. The work was focused on spine research with the help of the MediMouse apparatus and the Tanita scale. Sixty kids were chosen. Thirty kids who have trained for over 3 years had been chosen from the Wieliczka swim club, the other 30 were chosen from an elementary school as a control group. The research indicated a difference in spinal mobility in the sideways bend in the frontal plane in both groups. In the sagittal plane, the trained group characterized itself with a significantly greater spinal curvature towards the front and the back compared to the control group. In the case of somatic indicators such as height, weight and BMI, the differences between groups appeared small. The research confirmed, that by having trained swimming, there is a noticeable increase in mobility in both planes.
