Summary/Abstract: During the excavations of the ancient town of Citea in 1970—2017, numerous numismatic artifacts were found. The author attempted to generalize the data on these finds. Their study allows not only to form an idea of the monetary circulation in the city, but also about living standards, and also about the social composition of the population in different periods of its existence. Some of these coins are very rare. As it was established, a considerable mass of coinage finds on the territory of Citea belongs to the time of Theothorses and Rhescuporis VI administration. But this fact does not speak of the peak of the development of monetary circulation, but of a dramatic depreciation of the Bosporan currency under these sovereigns. However, these coins were used in the Byzantine period. This fact indicates the stability of the population of Citea in the 5th—6th centuries.
