Farmers’ social insurance in the context of development of rural areas in Poland.

Summary/Abstract: The article reviews the farmers’ social insurance system in Poland (Agricultural Social Insurance Fund, KRUS) which is widely criticized as being socially unfair and economically inefficient. The author presents various issues connected with the farmers’ social insurance system: its tasks, structure, main principles regarding premiums and benefits, as well as the rules for its financing.
