Pensions from the Social Insurance Fund in 2009–2013

Summary/Abstract: This article reviews the pensions paid in Poland in 2009–2013 from the Social Insurance Fund. The analyses performed include both the pensions calculated in accordance with previous and the current pension legislation. In the first part of the article the author examines the relevant regulations regarding the rights to pension benefits. Next, she focuses on the characteristics of the beneficiaries such as retirement age, professional experience, sex, as well as the pension amounts. Special attention is given to the issue of pensions granted under current law. The analyses presented in this article are based on data published by the Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS).
