DIE PARTNERSCHAFT ZWISCHEN DER LUCIAN BLAGA-UNIVERSITÄT HERMANNSTADT UND DER PHILIPPS-UNIVERSITÄT MARBURG
The Partnership between the Lucian Blaga University Sibiu/ Hermannstadt and the Philipps University Marburg. The History of an Academic Jubilee.

Summary/Abstract: The partnership agreement between the two universities was signed on May, the 7th, 1997 in Marburg and on March, the 16th, 1998 in Sibiu/Hermannstadt. On March, the 17th, 1998 the Institute for Humanities Hermannstadt (a branch of the Romanian Academy) and the Institute for Evangelical Theology Hermannstadt, which is today a department of the University of Sibiu/ Hermannstadt joined the partnership. Crucial for the success of the partnership relations was not only the fact that, at that time prof.dr.dr.h.c. mult. Werner Schaal was in office as president of the Marburg University and prof.dr.dr.h.c Dumitru Ciocoi-Pop held the office of rector of Sibiu University, but also the genuine spiritual openness of the two rectors for academic dialogue and partnership and the willingness of Marburg University to draw on time-proven academic traditions.
