Summary/Abstract: Love, a favorite theme for romantic writers, has been announced in French literature by the sensitive novels (pre-romantic) of Bernardin de Saint-Pierre (Paul and Virginie) and Jean-Jacques Rousseau (Julie or the New Heloise). We stopped at the last which, conceived in the form of letters, presents the universe of passions constituted as a network of different feelings, oscillating between the presence and the absence of the beloved, the delirium of the senses and the exaltation of the soul, the pleasure of the moment and the joy of love declared to eternity. Apart from any admiration of the sincere feelings of the protagonists of the story, we propose to highlight the beauty and varieties of the love language that the author has lent to his fictional characters.
