Summary/Abstract: Spelling skills training is a basic an important objective of primary education discussed in all methodological / didactic textbooks. Together with other skills that are formed in grades I-IV (writing, reading, arithmetical calculation, systematic observation, the size of some instruments), orthographic skills are tools of activities of utmost importance for intellectual work, forming with enough weight and often incorrect. The process of familiarizing students with spelling norms is a complex, long-lasting process that requires respect for the principle of age specificity. The peculiarities of primary spelling learning are determined by the fact that this process takes place in circumstances where linguistic theory, grammar, cannot be used. Spellings cannot be avoided even in first class since the first writing, although at this age students do not learn the grammar on which the writing rules are based. But there are situations in which spelling can be acquired without the knowledge of rules, mechanically, with the practical use of those rules.
