Summary/Abstract: As a stylistic unit, the proverb is an commonly used tool in literary texts. In dialogue or in narration, evidenced by introductory formulas or assimilated in the phrase, fully or partially rendered, the paremiological units have been inserted in many writings. Miguel de Cervantes is well-known for constantly employing proverbs in his masterpiece, «Don Quixote». Starting from some general theoretical considerations, this paper aims to highlight the literary use of proverb in Cervantes’ novel.
