Summary/Abstract: The author presents patriotism as a difficult loving relationship which brings both bliss and torment at the same time. In his analysis of musical discourse, he chooses to start with the most frequently used sado-masochistic model of love for the homeland. He watches the attempts to abandon the native country in the contemporary Polish music, and the various types and varieties of such abandonment. He starts with proposing getting free of Poland regarded as a geographical space, then goes on to the desire to abandon the Polish language.
