Contemporary management issues in the protection and rescue system in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Summary/Abstract: In Bosnia and Herzegovina, response to hazards (of natural or anthropological origin) and accidents (natural, technical/technological and other) is provided by forces and subjects in the protection and rescue system. Outcomes of accidents in Bosnia and Herzegovina show that there are numerous problems in the organization and operation of public administration bodies and operative services in charge of prevention, response and recovery. Root causes for this state of affairs should not be sought solely in human resources and lack of material resources, but also in the administration process and its operationalization through management of the system for rescue and protection of people and property in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
