Summary/Abstract: The paper describes the development of small heritage towns, fortifications and their wealth as the real heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to the description of selected examples of fortifications, the paper presents the challenges of developing small cities as potentials. The current theme on the European level is the development of small towns, not necessarily as a tourist potentials, but as a network of settlements and an important element of the development of the region.
