Summary/Abstract: The main scope of European Union competition policy is to ensure free and fair competition in the internal market. However, maintaining and improving the competitive nature of the markets, competition policy creates favorable conditions for achieving better economic performance of certain economic sectors, by creating efficient allocation of resources, promoting technical progress, maximize consumer welfare, creating new jobs, markets integration and to achieving the Union’s long-term goals, such as supporting economic development process. In the following we propose an analysis of the levers institutions engaged in the application of European Union competition policy.
