Summary/Abstract: This paper will provide insight to the creation of the United Nations (UN) and its developers, as well as what principle objectives the UN is tasked with accomplishing. Moreover, case studies during the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), the United Nations Operation in Somalia I (UNOSOM I) and United Nations Operation in Somalia II (UNOSOM II) will be examined. Along with the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda, to evaluate the overall effectiveness of the UN and determine whether or not it is a successful organization.
