Summary/Abstract: The text presents a description of interrogative and affirmative utterances on the background of selected literature. Attention is drawn to the value of spontaneous student speech in the educational process, especially their questions and statements. The text shows examples of communication acts fitting in the proposed communication model, initiated by students’ spontaneous questions or statements. It also offers possible ways of interpreting them by the teacher. The author points to the need for further research on the interpretation of spontaneous student speech and the possibilities of its application in educational practice.
