Summary/Abstract: Social, economic and cultural conditions in the last few decades have strong influence on the stages of the individual life cycle, and more particularly on adolescence and young adulthood of today’s young people defined in research literature as the Millennial generation. The present study aims to examine the relationship between personal-level values on one side and satisfaction with life and stress on the other of young people in their transition to adulthood. Empirical data of a quantitative dissertation research is presented, and the main research methods are correlation and regression analysis. The sample consists of 204 respondents aged 20 to 35. Results indicate that individualistic values such as achievement from Schwartz’s Values Model are related to higher satisfaction with life and lower stress levels while collectivist values like conforming to social rules and keeping tradition lead to lower life satisfaction. The results of this study will be most useful in the filed of psychological counseling because of the increasing number of young people seeking psychological help. Results would be useful also for experts and teacher in education working with young people. The study is among the few in Bulgaria examining the relationship between values and subjective wellbeing. Besides, it looks on the problem from the perspective of the millennial generation – an attempt is made to analyse the demographic tendencies that create a new life stage for these young people and all the specificities that it brings with itself. It has been also attempted to put the main research question in the broader contexts of developmental psychology and the theory for congruence between personal and societal values.
