Summary/Abstract: The article starts from the usage of German in the international scientific discourse and aims at highlighting the challenges of scientific language. In science, language is not a mere instrument for knowledge conveyance, but rather proves to be determinant for scientific thinking, particularly so in the fields of humanities, where scientific results generate, for the most part on a linguistic level, distinct lexical creation items, and the scientific character is bound, to a large extent, to the wording of assertions or to the compliance with conventions specific to scientific communication.
