Summary/Abstract: It is estimated that currently in the world is smoked 6 trillion cigarettes per year. Forecasts predict that this number may increase to 7 trillion in 2020. GATS study results showed that 27.0% (8.7 million) of adults smoke tobacco daily in our country. In Poland, the aspects related to the use and sale of tobacco products are regulated since 1996 when The Act of on protection of health against the consequences of consumption of tobacco and tobacco products came into force. The aim of this study was to investigate attitudes of students of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Medical University of Lodz toward smoking ban. The study was conducted from March to April 2015 among students of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Medical University of Lodz. The research tool was an anonymous questionnaire designed to self-completion by the respondents. Analysis of the collected empirical material showed that the prevalence of smoking among students of the first years at the Faculty of Health Sciences was high. 32,2% of the respondents smoke cigarettes. Most of the smokers did not comply with smoking ban. Studies have shown that most of the students advocated the introduction of smoking bans in public places.
