The Impact of Population Aging on Labor Supply in the Walecki Poviat

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is an attempt to assess the impact of aging on the supply of labor in the Walecki poviat in the coming thirty years. Literature studies, comparative analysis of the aging parameters of poviat, Zachodniopomorskie voivodeship and Poland, as well as the logical inference method were carried out for the purpose. The research shows that the forecasted high level of advancement of aging will result in the decrease of potential labor resources in the poviat in absolute and relative terms as well as the aging of labor resources. The scale of these changes will exceed the scale recorded at the regional and national level. Reduction and aging of labor resources will become a factor causing analogous changes in labor supply, but its impact can be compensated by the increase in the efficiency of using the changing potential labor resources, that is, increased participation in the labor market and productivity in the poviat. In mitigating the negative effects of population aging on the supply of labor, a key role will be played by adequate state policy.
