Summary/Abstract: The aim of the current paper is to present a procedure of the application of the AHP method (the Analytic Hierarchy Process) in the analysis and prioritization of success factors of the research-industry collaboration. The AHP method is one of the best known and most widely used (in science and practice) multi-criteria decision-making methods, developed in the 70’s by the American mathematician, T. L. Saaty. The subject of research  successful research collaboration of business and academia  constitutes an important topic in the context of innovative development of the Polish economy. Therefore, an attempt has been made to determine which factors can contribute to achieving this success in the highest degree. The article discusses steps of the AHP method, and then presents and analyses hierarchical model of the criteria and success factors. Results of the analysis shows that the most important success criterion is Competence and experience of researchers (priority: 0.54), and the most important factors are: Publications in scientific journals (0.24) and Experience of researchers in other research projects (0.24). The least important factors include i.a. Number of patents (0.01). The results of the analysis are discussed in the context of the current situation in Poland.
