I. G. Sbiera and the Central Library of Bukovina. Activity Reports for the Years: 1872, 1873, 1874

Summary/Abstract: In the following pages, we present some documents related to the activity of I. G. Sbiera as custodian and head of the Country Library, post in which he was appointed by Decree no. 302, dated February 23, 1871, and occupied it until 1875. At the State Archives of the Chernivtsi Region, we discovered the activity reports for the years 1872–1874, bearing Sbieraʼs signature. The yet unpublished documents were issued in the vocabulary sheet system. In the same archive fund, we have discovered four other documents, which are part of Sbieraʼs official correspondence with the Country High Committee. We bring them to public attention, in order to highlight the concerns of this Bukovina scholar regarding the collection of the Central Library of Bukovina and its move to the Palace of the Country.
