Summary/Abstract: The goal of this article is to show the concept of Industry 4.0 in context of current reports, as well as to show the opportunities of its implementation in Polish enterprises. The authors also show limitations and barriers that hinder the realization of the 4.0 concept on Polish manufacturing grounds. The undeniable benefits of Industry 4.0 include: increased innovativeness of enterprises, increased efficiency, the development of the SME sector, increased employment. The limitation for the full implementation of the concept of Industry 4.0 in Poland may be the lack of a coherent and growth-oriented innovation industry development strategy adopted by the government.
