Summary/Abstract: The authors of the paper describe the historical development of the legislation on the provision of environmental information in the legal order of the Republic of Poland. They point to a dual legal regime based not only on the constitutional level by the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of Poland, but also on the legal level. In this context, the paper highlights the differences between the 2001 General Law on Access to Public Information and the 2008 Law on Disclosure of Environmental Information and Protection, Public Participation in Environmental Protection and Environmental Impact Assessment. The paper focuses in particular on the special act on access to environmental information; in particular, its basic principles, obligatory subjects, the extent of environmental information provided, the disclosure of information on request, publicly available statements, electronic databases or fees are presented.
