Summary/Abstract: Starting from a brief presentation of some theoretical aspects regarding English collocations, the present paper aims at providing an inventory of the most common lexical and grammatical collocations including the noun environment with a view to highlight the importance of correctly using these collocations in both general and specialized contexts. Special attention will be devoted to the ways in which the polysemantic character of the noun under discussion, as illustrated by a series of dictionary definitions, influences its distribution in some of the Romanian equivalent collocations.
