Summary/Abstract: Contemporary libraries in their essence represent the synergy of different tasks, resources, services, relationships and activities. Although they are not today the only place of access to knowledge, their role in learning, education, creation and dissemination of knowledge are still very significant. This statement is especially true when it comes to higher education libraries that are and should be support of creating, sharing and disseminating knowledge in academic and wider community, considering that their main activities are aimed at mediating between sources of information and knowledge and information needs of user populations for the purpose of learning, researching and creating a new information product. Improving the media and information literacy of the user population is the center of which depend all other activities of the library. About the information literacy first has begun to be spoken in the library and educational communities.
