Summary/Abstract: Sénèque, exilé 8 ans en Corse par le pouvoir, décrit l’île comme un pays barbare. Quelle qu’en fût l’exagération, il est indéniable que sa souffrance était réelle. Dans sa Consolation pour Helvia, sa mère, il démontre, dans un dialogue philosophique en prose, que son exil ne doit pas la faire souffrir. Or, dans ses Épigrammes, il négocie avec la dure réalité pour la transfigurer poétiquement. // Seneca, exiled 8 years in Corsica by the power, describes the island as barbaric. Whatever the exaggeration, it is undeniable that his suffering was real. In A Consolation to Helvia, his mother, he demonstrates in a philosophical dialogue in prose that the exile of his son should not make her suffer. In Epigrams, he negotiates with the harsh reality to transfigure it poetically.
