Summary/Abstract: The development of modern technologies causes modifications in the labour market, we observe aging of the knowledge gained and changes in tools and working methods. In the information society, in order to maintain an appropriate level of professionalism, an employee must develop an openness to a constant process of updating his knowledge and competences. This is particularly the case for mature workers, which, combined with an ageing population, makes it necessary to develop courses tailored to the needs of this age group in order to make it easier for them to remain in the labour market. The problem is significant not only in Poland, as the ageing of the population occurs in many countrie sall over the world, but it is particularly noticeable in European countries.
